Thank you for visiting Musings of an Outreach Editor! I was reading through your blog, and what you said here struck me: "After all, it's not just the things that happened in our lives that shaped us into the people we've become. Sometimes it's the things that didn't happen that have the biggest impact."
This is such a true statement, but one that I've never really thought about. We often spend time mourning our dreams or plans that didn't come true, but we don't thank them enough for not coming true...and however that shapes us, albeit reluctantly. I think I would be a totally different person today if certain stuff HAD happened to me. I'm glad it didn't. Family history is a great topic, by the way. I come from a family who says they're "American" and that's it. I don't know much about my ancestors at all, and wish I could be more connected to my past.
